Mark McWhinney, President
Mark McWhinney is the founder and president of Portata, Inc.
He is a veteran leader in the
load test business with 20 years experience
in software development and quality assurance.
Prior to founding Portata, Mark was the VP of Engineering for
seven years at PowerTest, a quality assurance firm with a staff
of 40 that specialized in performance load testing. While
at PowerTest he lead and participated in more than 100 load test
projects. Prior to PowerTest, Mark held various management and technical
positions at IBM, ATAC, and the Software Engineering Institute.
Mark is a LoadRunner Certified Product Specialist and Certified
Product Instructor. He founded the LoadRunner Forum in
1999, which has grown to over 5,000 members.
He is the co-author of "Software Measures and the Capability
Maturity Model" which helps organizations select and use
software metrics for their level of organizational maturity.
Mark earned an M.S. in Software Engineering from Carnegie Mellon
University and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Stanford
University.
